Queenstown seems to be everyones favourite place in New Zealand. Its an incredible city with little streets and huge energy. Its surrounded by the Southern Alps and a big beautiful lake which makes it extremely appealing.
Its the go to place for activities as it has dozens of them to offer. Its also the party capitol of New Zealand, with many bars and clubs in one place it seems to come alive at night like know where else in New Zealand. Its easy to see why people end up staying here for longer than planned.
♦ Skyline Luge. Queenstown definitely has the most scenic Luge and Gondola ride in New Zealand. There are two tracks, the blue and the red – Be sure to do both! Blue is more leisurely where as the red track is for those seeking adventure. Night Luging is also available over summer, which makes for an awesome evening out.
♦ Canyon Swing. Need a thrill? Then the Canyon Swing should be your next stop. You’ll plummet a staggering 109 meters over the famous Shotover River – Undoubtably an experience of a lifetime.
♦ Ski-fields. During the ski-season season (mid June to October) grab your Skis or Snowboards and make your way down to Queenstown. It has undoubtably some of the best slopes in New Zealand for all levels and will not disappoint.
♦ Skydive. If you haven’t already done a Skydive in New Zealand, do one here! With the Southern Alps and beautiful lake you will be blown away. Sophie did her first dive in Queenstown – click here to check it out.
♦ Ferburger. Queenstowns worst kept secret – The Ferburger. You will find queues of travellers bursting out the doors trying to get their burger fix. Trying one and find out why!
♦ Nightlife. The nightlife here is second to none. Its one of the main reason Queenstown attracts so many travellers. Just walk around in the evening and you’ll stumble across some of the best live music, street performers, pubs, bars and clubs.
♦ Accomodation. We’d recommend staying in a hostel, its the best way to meet people and find out whats happening in the city. You can expect to pay between 30-40 NZD for a dorm while private twins or doubles start from $70 NZD.
♦ Transport. Queenstown is really small, its much easier to walk around than it is to get a bus or drive. Parking is a little difficult, you can park on the outskirts for free and then walk around during your stay.
We love Queenstown because it has such an awesome vibe, everyone is happy to be outdoors living life to the full. There is something for everyone – families, couples, friends and solo travellers. Take a few days minimum here to really enjoy Queenstown – you wont be disappointed.
