Brisbane is Australia’s third largest city with a population of 2.3 million people and is situated slightly North of the New South Wales/ Queensland border.

It offers a little something for everyone! We decided to do it for cheap, in fact, we did not spend a penny in Brisbane. Here is our top 3 things to do.

♦ Get a Free Tour from the Brisbane Greeters. Join local volunteers who live in Brisbane on this free public service open to everyone and anyone. Brisbane Greeters has a network of enthusiastic residents who are waiting to show and share their home with you. All you need to do is book it online and arrive on time – What a fantastic free service!

♦ Swimming at South Bank. South Bank was built in 1988 and is an icon of Brisbane. Streets man-made beach is the star of the show, where you will be able to swim with views of the city. It can get busy, so to avoid the hustle and bustle get there early morning or late evening.

TOP TIP – Go on a Sunday where its BYO beer day!

♦ Free events at the Brisbane Powerhouse. Our third and final awesome freebie in Brisbane is the Brisbane Powerhouse. The building sits on the banks of Brisbane River and is a former power station. Nowadays, this ex workhouse boasts 3 theatres with a capacity up to 800 people and has free shows (music, comedy, circus & much more) every week – Be sure to check out if theres anything on for your travel dates!

The above three points will ensure for a great day out in Brisbane that wont cost you a penny! Save that money for different city because your visit to Brisbane is on the house!

TOP TIP –  The council also offers free wifi to anyone visiting Brisbane so be sure to get connected so you can check out whats going on during your stay.
